Annual Awards
2010
It’s that
time of the year again and we invite you to
forward your entry for this year’s LCBT Annual
Awards 2010.
As part
of their commitment to honouring excellence in
business and in the community, the Lowveld
Chamber of Business and Tourism will make
several awards at the end of October 2010, to
honour top achievers in the Lowveld,
specifically achievers in the fields of
Business, Tourism and Community Service.
Closing date for entries are 31 August 2010, and
businesses in the Lowveld are urged to submit
their entries well in advance of this closing
date.
Table Bookings

Table bookings will open shortly.
We’d like
to remind you to make these table bookings
well in advance as we had large number of
disappointed members who did their bookings too
late last year. If you make your booking well in
advance you may make use of the opportunity to
make you payment in monthly “instalments”, this
will alleviate the financial burden it might
place on your company. Ticket prices has not
been confirmed as yet, but will be forwarded to
you as soon as it becomes available.

Criteria for Category Entrants
We eagerly await your
entry in the all of our categories. Our awards
are grouped into three major categories, namely
General, Specific and Special
Awards.
1. General Awards
All business, within the field of
general business (e.g. financial, commerce,
industry, agriculture, medical, services,
tourism and the hospitality industry) may apply
or be nominated for the three awards in this
General category. Awards are made in the
following categories:

Large Enterprise
>R20 million turnover per annum
-
Medium Enterprise
R5 million to R20 million turnover per annum
-
Small Enterprise
< R5million turnover per annum
2.
Specific Awards
HospitalityThe
Hospitality Industry award includes all
hospitality industries, irrespective of the size
of the organisation or the focus of the industry
(e.g. food, accommodation, travel and tourism or
entertainment)
Large Enterprise
>R10 million turnover per annum
Medium Enterprise
>R3 million to R10 million
turnover per annum
Small Enterprise
< R3 million turnover per annum
Franchisee
Franchised business will compete
for this award, irrespective of the size of the
organisation. The focus of the evaluation will
be on the principles of business and not on the
popularity of the brand name.
Entrepreneur
This award will typically focus
on the SMME sector in the community. Business
established more than 24 months prior to July of
the year of the award are not eligible and
should compete in another category. The
creation of job opportunities through the
business venture will count in favour of the
participant, while emphasis will be placed on
innovation and uniqueness of the enterprise and
product. A voucher will be linked to the
Entrepreneur Award to allow the recipient access
to managerial and or financial advice.
Environmental
The Environmental Award will
recognize excellence for those activities which
are developed, planned and managed in accordance
with recognised best practice for the benefit of
the sustainability of human society and the
environment on which we depend.
3. Special Awards
Community Service
This award will be given to a
non-governmental, non-political, non-profit
organisation, which focuses on the well-being,
community outreach and development of the
community. Community service organisations with
a national basis will not be considered. This
award may also be awarded to an individual.
